How to Attract Fussy Telecommuters with the Perfect Home Office
In your opinion how important is a home office?
Currently 43% of the US work force work remotely to some degree. The last 10 years has seen a 115% increase in telecommuting. So providing a home office environment may be a good boost to your properties appeal.
Granted not everyone working remotely works from a home office, but if you’re traveling for an extended period, chances are dedicated desk space is one of your priorities. Finding a short term rental, Airbnb or VRBO with high speed WIFI and a place to work area is an added bonus. No one really wants to work from the dining room table!
If you’ve got a long term investment property, furnished rental or vacant rental, a one or two bedroom property plus additional home office space helps sweeten the deal.
Is a full blown office setup necessary? I don’t believe you have to go all out, but it’s easy to set the stage with a desk, a comfortable work chair and good task lighting.
Whether you’re carving out some desk space in an alcove, a box room or you actually have dedicated room for a home office, choosing furniture and accessories to stay in budget isn’t hard if you know where to look.
I’ve sourced some options for you in different price points. Notice all of these desks and chairs are fairly design neutral and should work in a contemporary, transitional or modern space.
